Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city wasn't. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer but due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew every dance partner she met. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I surpassed any male partner then I slowed down. Former dancers often turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel, it was a suggestion from her high school drama teacher. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the annual school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the lead character of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. In the last 20 years, the roles played by Brugel on television and the big screen have been numerous. Her role as Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 which was viewed only occasionally.
